Surface Treatment Company Fills Niche Need for Medical Industry. ARCADIA, Calif.--For the past 40 years, Danco Anodizing has met the needs of many diverse industries for technically-advanced surface treatments of machine parts, castings, extrusions, and sheet metal products. One of the areas they specialize in is titanium anodizing of orthopedic implants, where color anodizing is in hot demand. Titanium color anodized coatings are super thin (in the range of 500 to 1000 Angstroms), and as the coating thickness increases, different frequencies of light escape, creating a variety of colors within the spectrum color range. Color anodizing is crucial to the medical industry because the different colors provide identification of the part, said Dean Zentz, vice president of operations for Danco at Warsaw, Indiana.

“Danco Anodizing is excited to partner with Promimic to offer HAnano to our medical device customers. The HAnano technology is 20 nanometers thin and can be applied to materials such as PEEK, Titanium, Stainless Steel, Ceramics, Cobalt Chrome, and even Porous Structures. Benefits of the technology on implantable devices include, but are not limited to; enhanced anchoring strength, super hydrophilic surface for greater osteointegration, mimics surface morphology which is great for porous structure devices, and pre-clinical and clinical data to support a proven regulatory path.” ABOUT PROMIMIC AB Promimic, based in Gothenburg, Sweden, develops and markets products within nano-materials for innovative surface treatments. Promimic has developed a process that makes it possible to modify all types of implant materials and geometries with a nanometer-thin surface of synthetic bone minerals; HAnano Surface. The HAnano Surface is based on the substance hydroxyapatite (HA), which by size, shape, structure and chemistry mimics the living bone tissue. The surface has been shown to fasten and improve the anchoring of implants in bone. For more information about the company, please visit the web page: http://www.promimic.com.
